POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL 0.4% W/V + PROPYLENE GLYCOL 0.3% W/V EYE DROPS

 Polyethylene Glycol+ Propylene Glycol belongs to the class of medicines called eye lubricants. The medicine is used in the treatment of dry eyes. Dry eyes are caused by allergic eye diseases or eye infections, wind, heating/air conditioning, and certain medications, drying the eyes lubricants thereby causing irritation in the eyes.  Polyethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol treat the symptoms of dry eyes by working similarly to natural tears. The medicine is effective in providing temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness of the eye. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or do not let it touch your eyes or any other surface.

Take the medicine as per the prescribed dosage and duration by the doctor. The drops are for external use only. Inform your doctor if you notice any side effects such as application site reactions like burning/stinging sensation or redness in the eye, itching, irritation, and blurred vision. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of the active ingredients used or similar medicines. 

Directions for Use 

Polyethylene Glycol+ Propylene Glycol drops are for external application only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the eye drops. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops as advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Keep your eyes closed for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids, or surrounding areas as it may contaminate

Contraindication for  Glycol+ Propylene Glycol Eye Drops

Do not use the  Glycol+ Propylene Glycol Eye Drops if you are suffering from any of the following mentioned health conditions. Using eye drops in these conditions can cause severe health effects and can also impact vision. 

• glaucoma (a condition with increased pressure in the eye)
• ulcers in the eye
• have undergone or are scheduled for eye surgery
•  have any other eye problems 

Precautions and Warning 

1. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using the eye drops. 

2. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface.

3. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after putting the eye drops to prevent the medication from draining out. Avoid rapidly blinking or rubbing your eyes. 

4. Use the medicine within 4 weeks of opening the drop bottle. 

5. Store the eye drops in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. 

6. Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets. Properly dispose of expired and discarded medicines.
